Although they say that life is what you make it, I believe that we can agree that LIFE IS FULL of challenges.
Translation: LIFE IS HARD!
You may not be religious, but even the Bible says so:
+ In the world you will have tribulation;
+ in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
+ We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair
(Cue Violin, and pan the camera slowly showing people in anguish and despair- in 4k for extreme detail)
Sheesh! That’s enough, I think I’m starting to get depressed just talking about it.
(Sighs)
Nah, but really, trials and tribulations make us STRONGER.
And that strength, and the wisdom that you’ve gained while going
THROUGH your tests is what you will convey to your readers, WHEN you become a published author.

Let me bring you into my world for a bit, maybe you can relate..
When I wrote and published my first book, Weapons of Mass Destruction: Loud Weapons for Quiet Wars The Destruction of a Generation Through Music, Media, and Entertainment
I had no idea that I would be here talking to you as a 2-time published author turned Coach who’s made over 4 figures, and helped others to become published authors as well.
Truthfully, although it’s a whopping 500 pages with over 500 footnotes, it should NOT have taken me 4 years to complete!
You see, I ADD the 10 months that I set the manuscript down in procrastination and unclear vision because it’s about the JOURNEY, NOT the destination!
I thought that when I started writing it, that this would be just something else that I completed out of a flaw in my identity. Another step in my search for belonging, completion of something for a pat on the back, another “Look at Me Accomplishment.”
BOY was I WRONG!
Ya’ see, I grew up DECENT.
I like to say that I Was Raised Good But The Streets Bad™.
I had a loving family, but it was DYSFUNCTIONAL indeed.
There was divorce, separations, addictions, deaths, incarcerations, etc.
For me on a more personal note, I grew up “having to perform,” “having to be “PERFECT”.
I spent a LOT of time with my Grandma, who has seen multiple generations and is full of pride and zero tolerance for failure and half-way activity.
So the reality of anxiety, fear of failure or getting it wrong was deeply engrained in my psyche.
That, along with other complex traumas from my past life in the streets, and as a Veteran, has created a host of layered issues that I’ve been facing head on for the last 10 years, but even more specifically the last year.
In 2020, not only did I become a Certified Addiction and Abuse Recovery Coach, in my personal life I lost 4 family members consecutively!
One was my big cousin, who I call my big sister because we literally grew up together: summer programs, sleepovers, learned how to swim together, trips out of town together, trips out the country, the list goes on.
She was my sister. I dedicated my 2nd book to her.
